Hello, I’m David and I write about my life and adventures in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Subscribe for free to enjoy occasional posts, podcasts and vlogs from this much misunderstood heart shaped country in the western Balkans.

The problem we have had over the past 3-4 years now has been poor or non existent fruit harvests.

As Spring arrives, traditionally the fruit bushes and trees start to bud, followed by blossoming. Then the fruit grows from those blossoms.

Theses past years have seen the buds turn into blossoms, then followed by a very short, but intensely cold patch of just a few days. The blossoms die off. No fruit.

For us that means no plums or apples.

No plums or apples mean no Rakija (the domestic brandy we distil in late October/early November).

Fingers crossed this year will be back to normal.

I'm not keen on doing YouTube again or posting these to Instagram. So I would just like to stick with Substack.
