It was just meant to be a quick drive into the Banja Luka suburb of Budžak to pick up some locally produced oils.

Budžak by the way, is basically an area that was used to house the survivors of the 1969 Earthquake that devastated Banja Luka.

The accommodation was meant to be temporary, but ended up being modified and more permanent. People didn't want to move.

Although not exactly a touristy type of area it's worth walking around. It's extremely interesting.

Anyway.

We collected the oils.

Tamara then mentioned that whilst looking at Google maps earlier in the day, she had found a mlin (mill) nearby which had some cute images attached. Maybe we should check it out?

We did.

The Mlin is located on the city Bank of the Vrbas River, just opposite the Trapisti monastery.

Although rather old, it is extremely rustic and very cute. A super location. The small metal mill wheel seems to be out of order and covered quite a bit by undergrowth.

Having said this, it's a great place to either walk or cycle to and stop for a coffee or something more substantial in the way of a drink.

We didn't ask for a menu but there were a number of recently used sač evident, which leads us to belief that food is on offer.

There are also places to BBQ nearby .

The river flows slowly by at the Mlin and there's definitely a peaceful feel about it

The coffee bar itself has seen better days but the music from the sound system was that of ex yu rock, and the "regulars" were also of that vintage.

Playing cards seemed to be the preferred pastime.

To be honest, I don't think many foreigners or outside visitors pass by, so if you find yourself there, then I can assure you you'll have a unique experience.

Here's the Google map link.
