When I first came across Mate I thought it might be some sort of a drug.

For some people it is a drug, just like coffee is for other people.

But in reality Mate is nothing more than a traditional beverage that is popular in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and the south of Brazil.

It is in fact, similar to tea.

Mate is prepared with yerba (a kind of herb) and hot water.

Denise, my Argentinian friend and follow foreigner here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, shows me how to make traditional Mate.
