Hello from the village, where the Hot Hot Hot weather is still our everyday.
I keep saying this, and will continue to do so.
“Anyone who denies that there’s no climate change caused by past generations of humanity, has seriously lost the plot and urgently needs to take a reality tablet”.
A Quick Question Before This Newsletter Gets Underway
Let’s Crack on
So here’s my Balkan Roundup, not necessarily in chronological order.
The Months Best and Normal Moments
A Dog’s Life
Again, we have had dogs dumped at our property in the middle of the night.
This time a litter of 4.
It is no joke, and as we already have 2 dogs and 7 cats (all rescues) we now have emotional and ethical stress which, to be honest, we really could do without.
Suffice to say that at time of writing this we have managed to get the puppies vaccinated and are looking after them, so that in just under a month they can move into a shelter and then probably onwards to homes in Germany.
You can find out more about the stray dog issue here in Bosnia and Herzegovina in my last post. There will be updates and I will be talking about this topic on our soon to be relaunched podcast about this emotional subject.
You can keep up to date with this puppy story through my daily Notes.
What my subscribers received recently:
Exploring Travnik - The “Viziers City.
The Lipizzaners of Vučijak - Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sole Lipizzan breeding centre..

A Street Number
After 20 years, we now have a name for our street (Čardačanska), here in the village, and a number.
It was aways a bit of a journey having to explain to both guests and even members of my family, that that our address was Čardačani bb. The “bb” means bez broj, or “without a number”.
Question. ”But how does the postman know where to deliver?”
Answer. “He just does”
But now all the neighbours houses are sporting brand new signs on their walls or main gates
We’ve been dragged into 21st Century.
A Map for the Coffee and Rakija Community (You)
I am building a google map to show where Coffee and Rakija readers live.
Why not get yourself added?
It’s so super easy just:
I just need to know your first name and the nearest town and country please. Nothing more detailed than that. I thought that such a map might be quite fun to see?
Here’s how the map looks as of now. You can click on the image to zoom in.
