We took a trip from Banja Luka to the nearby town of Doboj.
Doboj's impressive castle dominates the area and is seen as one of the finest fortifications in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Doboj Fortress, (or Gradina, if you’re on first-name terms) offers tremendous views of the city.
These defences have been here since the 13th century, but this place really took on its noted form at the beginning of the 15th, when the Ottomans conquered and occupied the country.
The Fortress was important for both Ottomans and the Austro-Hungarian Hapsburgs.
The fortress is in great condition and definitely worth a visit! The view over the town from the top is simply breathtaking.
If you're a history buff and you're looking for a perfect panorama viewpoint, then, this is the right place for you! It was a scorchingly hot day when we visited but with quite a gusty wind.
Our small drone was buffeted around a bit hence the limited footage, which was also a bit shaky.
If you are fortunate to have the fortress guide "on site" during your visit, you'll be regaled with many rich stories and anecdotes.
