Banja Luka is becoming a "go to place" when it comes to street art.

What's your take on "Street Art"? on "Graffiti"?

Well Banja Luka is becoming a "go to place" when it comes to street art.

Now I didn't know that.

I sometimes feel that when Tamara and I drive around Banja Luka (and indeed the country), we haven't a clue what is going on around us. That we are so unaware of our surroundings.

That sounds crazy.

We are both digital geeks and surf the web and social networks constantly and actually pride ourselves on being "up to date". On being "with it".

The Banja Luka area of Borik, is extremely interesting as it has huge murals on some of the otherwise rather drab, Titovian buildings that house most of Banja Luka's inhabitants.

Borik was built to re-house those Banja Luka residents who lost their homes in the 1969 earthquake.

Back to the murals.

The artists who have created these large works of art are:

Lonac, from Croatia.
Artez from Serbia.
Bozko, from Bulgaria
and a Polish duo known as Etam Cru.

Banja Luka is the first city in the former Yugoslavia who have hosted Etam Cru, and this mural in Borik has already appeared on international art portals.

Initially, the murals were part of the Flaster Street Art Festival.

But since 2015  that seemed to come to a halt until the past two weeks or so (I am updating this post in early May 2019), when a new mural has been completed.

The new mural was created as part of the "Opening on the Road Opens the Door" from the town of Novi Sad in the Vojvodina area of northern Serbia.
