Village Life Weekly Update - 17 August 2023.
Bringing the Balkans Closer, One Podcast Episode and Blogpost at a Time
Welcome to the this edition of This Week in the Balkans
Hello from the Village,
It's great to be back with another edition of the newsletter! We've been on a bit of a whirlwind lately, tweaking our approach and exploring new avenues to promote the podcast. Let's catch up on what's been happening:
Our newsletters took a temporary break, and we experimented with various alternatives to Substack.
The results seemed to indicate that the emails were going into your spam folders, so after careful consideration, we're staying with Substack for our newsletter distribution.
Introducing Our Brand-New Blog
We now have a brand new website where you’ll find all our podcast episodes from 2013 until now.
Yes! The podcast (albeit with different titles) is 10 years old!
This new site is hosted with Squarespace at anenglishmaninthebalkans.com.
Our website is now a one-stop shop for not only the podcast but also a re-launched Blog as well. It also has a nifty recording button. You can record your questions and observations straight from your mobile device, and we can use that to be included in future podcasts. You might just become a star on our podcast. Your voice could echo across the Balkans in future episodes – an opportunity too exciting to miss.

Holiday Plans
Next week Tamara and I will be in Montenegro. We’re spending some 9 nights there, based in a small village on the shoreline of the Bay of Kotor.
I am planning on recording a podcast about Kotor and the immediate area, BUT the main aim of the visit is to relax, so, maybe that plan might not materialise. Lets see.
We are hoping to take trip on the brand new cable car ride that has just opened in Kotor.

Our Guest from Austria.
We took our friend Fritz to see the small wooden church at Malo Blaško, before he set off for home. I find these wooden churches fascinating. Each one it seems, has it’s own legend or unique story to tell.
And Finally.
That’s it for this edition of the newsletter.
