Hello and welcome to this edition of our Blog, from Čardačani, in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, written by an immigrant (me), as I am neither a tourist or a citizen here.
This weeks post is being written in the arrivals lounge of Zagreb Airport.
I am here waiting to collect my nephew who is visiting us for a week from the UK. He has been before but that, I think, was around 10 years ago. A lot has changed all around in that time, so it might seem like a whole new experience for him. We are about to find out.
With some car issues at the moment we will travel from the airport by bus. Normally a straight forward exercise, but this time rather complicated. Bus frequencies are quite sparse and timings don’t fit the planned travel schedule.
We will be OK. Not the usual route though, so a minor adventure 😀.
Zagreb
The first leg of my outbound journey was to Zagreb Main Bus station. As there would be a lot of time to kill, I walked into the centre, near the main railway to eat my packed breakfast in as peaceful area as possible.
The number and variety of nationalities of tourists I saw was quite astonishing. This region is starting to pick up tourism wise especially in Croatia. Now to get that flow to redirect into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Just across the street from where I sat eating breakfast, were a number of charging points for EV’s (Electric Vehicles). I am passionate about the developments of EV’s and aspire to own one before I pop this mortal coil. I think we have just a few EV charging points in Banja Luka, but nothing as advanced as this in Zagreb.
I hope that soon we will be used to seeing these. It WILL help to save the planet.
COVID killed off my Favourite place to overnight in Zagreb
Banja Luka’s “Buskers” Festival
This coming weekend will see the first "Buskers" fest in Banja Luka.
A "busker" is .a person who entertains people for money in public places (as by singing or dancing).
From June 17 to 19 the streets of Banja Luka will host the first festival of street entertainers "TrotoArt".
"The happiest and most playful singers, dancers, players, animators and entertainers are taking part".
We plan to drop by and record a video for the blog.

Turkey launches a Balkans Digital TV channel.
Another news outlet for the Balkans. The Turks add to an already chaotic Information Space. I’ll give it a watch to look for balance and objectivity. If that exists anymore.
I am a grumpy ex media type (as you can most probably tell).

Where we are in the Netherlands all the buses are electric and a very high percentage of cars. The Dutch are very eco minded 👏🏻This is a good start for Bosnia though
